About Uliana

Uliana Alexyuk is a lyric soprano from Ukraine.

From 2009 to 2011 she was a member of the Opera Studio of Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre, where she made her debut singing First Lady in Mozart's “Die Zauberflöte” in 2010.  Appearances followed as Frasquita in Bizet's “Carmen”, Marfa in Rimsky-Korsakov's “The Tsar's Bride”, Princess/Fire/Nightingale in Ravel's “L’enfant et les sortilèges”.
Adele in Strauss' “Die Fledermaus”,  Amina in Bellini's “La Sonnambula” with Director Pier Luigi Pizzi, as well as Ludmilla in Glinka's “Ruslan and Ludmilla” with Director Dmitri Tcherniakov.

Alexyuk made her US debut in 2013/14 as a member of the Houston Grand Opera's Opera Studio where she performed Gilda in Verdi's “Rigoletto”, Mrs. Nordstrom in Sondheim's “A Little Night Music” and Ivette in Weinberg's “The Passenger”.  “The Passenger” production also took her in 2014 to the Lincoln Center Festival in New York and 2015 to the Chicago Lyric Opera.

At the Paris Opera, Alexyuk sang Anja in Philippe Fénélon's “Kirschgarten”, in Bari, Italy she performed Nadia in Fabio Vacchi's “Lo stesso Mare”.

At the Glyndebourne Festival she performed Zerbinetta in Richard Strauss' “Ariadne auf Naxos” conducted by Vladimir Jurowski. It was with this performance that she was awarded the John Christie Prize.

In the 2014/15 Season, she performed at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe the roles of  Musetta in “La Bohème”, Princess/Fire/Nightingale in “L’enfant et les Sortilèges” and Rossignol in  Stravinsky's “Le Rossignol”.

In the following season she became a member of the ensemble and has since sung a variety of roles, such as, of Nanetta in “Falstaff”, Giulietta in “I Capuleti e i Montecchi”, Blonde in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”, Frasquita in “Carmen”, Adina in “L'elisir d  'amore”, Waldvogel in “Siegfried”, Servilia in “La clemenza di Tito”, Celia in “Lucio Silla”, Juliette in Gounod's “Roméo et Juliette”, the Vixen in “The Cunning Little Vixen”, Woglinde in Das Rheingold, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Norina in Don Pasquale, Sandrina in La Finta Giardiniera as well as performing in solo recitals and concerts with the Badisches Staatskapelle.

In the 22/23 season she made her house debut in Zürich Opera as Woglinde in Wagner’s “Das Rheingold” staged by Andreas Homoki and conducted by Gianandrea Noseda.

 

This past December 2022 she performed  “Beethoven’s 9th Symphony” with Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI in Turin.
